Description
Design Engineering Heat Screen offers an excellent way to reflect radiant heat away from a vehicle's interior and because of its flexibility, can be trimmed-to-size to protect against excessive heat sources. Constructed of a high temperature resistant fiberglass material, and with a thickness of only .060", Heat Screen features a thermal barrier on one side made of a superior reflective aluminized mylar surface capable of withstanding direct heat up to 1200 degrees Fahrenheit. Heat Screen can be used to protect areas where excessive heat can blister paint, where exhaust pipes run close to the fuel tank, and has many other applications including floorboards, body panels and under carpeting. A high temperature adhesive such as DEI's Hi-Temp Spray Adhesive or Heat Resistant Sealant/Adhesive can be applied to secure Heat Screen or screws or rivets can be used. DEI's Cool Tape is ideal for sealing and covering seams.

We used this to line the top of the opening for a single wall oven in my kitchen cabinets. We have the microwave sitting above and I wanted to make sure heat from the oven wouldn't be a problem. It was very easy to cut and form to the area. We did put an extra bit of support by stapling in small shims of wood just in case but probably was overkill. The adhesive was very sticky but you could reposition it if you were careful to not press too hard before you had it where you wanted. Works great and my microwave area stays nice and cool even when running my oven at 540 degrees for pizza.Used as a cheaper alternative for Bonnet insulationI have used DEI products before and they have never failed me.Light weight and a very efficient reflector. I use it to keep a 1000 degree Celsius furnace from heating up adjacent objects.
